Menumbuhkan Nasionalisme Dengan Budaya Literasi Melalui Kegiatan Lomba Puisi Mahasiswa Universitas PGRI Banyuwangi

Abstract

The purpose of this literacy has a general meaning, namely the ability to read and write. This ability is usually obtained through a continuous process of learning and training. Even among university students, those who read diligently are ridiculed and seen as students who are less social. It is this perception that has actually had a negative impact on the education system in the country and has led to a low literacy culture, including among students and Indonesian society in general. Some of the things that make literacy culture low in Indonesia include the level of public education, being lazy to read, and a lack of access to reading. This is due to the small number of libraries, the price of books that tend to be unaffordable given people's purchasing power, and the inappropriate use of technology, so that only a few are able to write down the knowledge gained from reading. The solution offered in this community service activity is to introduce a culture of literacy through poetry readings on the theme of Pancasila's birthday to students at PGRI Banyuwangi University. By organizing this service, it is hoped that it will improve student literacy abilities. It is hoped that the knowledge gained from this activity for the community will be able to provide new energy for them to realize it so that they are more enthusiastic about literacy.
